We stopped at Marilyn's after coming up empty handed for baked goods at Remus Farmer's Market just down the street. We were greeted by a friendly person behind the counter and found lots of goodies to choose from. Their pies look great, and are bargain-priced compared to what we are used to in Chicago. They had a holiday table with toffee and other goodies. It wasn't until we left and I read the reviews that I knew that they are famous for their toffee. Something we missed out on. We ended up buying two blueberry muffins and a nut-laden banana bread. When decided between their zucchini bread and banana bread, we asked the counter person which one was better. Her answer was that she had never eaten either of them. Not a great help, and my suggestion is that employees should sample and be familiar with the product they are selling. That said, we went with the banana bread and was absolutely delicious--moist, flavorful and with a generous coating of nuts. Marilyn's banana bread was much better than the banana coffee cake that we had given our La Porte friends from a fancy-schmancy Chicago bakery--and it was a third of the price. The blueberry muffins were good, too. Not sure when we will ever be back in Hobart, Indiana, but Marilyn's is worth a stop if you're in the area.
Only purchase one thing and it was the blueberry gluten free pie. Let me tell you this did not taste gluten free at all (if you know you know), it was delicious!
Bought cupcakes for birthday party on short notice. They made 3 dozen for me in two days. Ordered red velvet, carrot cake, and yellow cake with salted carmel ocing. They eere awesome, the hit of the party! Recomend them highky for any of your needs. Thank you for delicious cupcakes, great service, and meeting my short schedule.
This is the best bakery in Northwest Indiana!!! We've gotten the cheesecake, fresh strawberry pie and chocolate pudding pie and all were so fresh and delicious!!! They are not too sweet, they are perfect! Definitely don't pass this place up if you have a taste for a good dessert!
We always stop in on our way from ohio to Chicago. Very clean, nice, friendly bakery. Bought shortcakes, macadamia white chocolate cookies, and muffins. Went next door to the fruit and vegetable store for amazing fresh strawberries and we had delicious strawberry shortcake dessert.
I think I can honestly say this is the best bakery I've been to. It's a cute little cafe with an adjacent farm that you can walk around and see flowers, veggies, herbs etc. The employees were very kind and the pastries are AMAZING. I would Definitely recommend.
Their pies are always fresh & delicious. I stop in anytime I go to visit friends in Miller Beach.
